You can use the DFØ app to send travel expense claims, register remunerations and working hours, view your payslip and more.
Get started
Download the app
Download the app from App store if you have an iPhone or from Google Play if you have an Android phone. You will find the app if you search for "DFO app".
You can also download the app for tablet, but you can only use the DFØ app on one device at the same time for security reasons.
To use the app you must have the current iOS or Android version, or one of the three previous versions. You cannot use the app on a Windows phone.
You need about 45 MB of free storage on iPhone and about 12 MB on Android. If you will be registering hours, the DFØ app will use just under 0,2 MB.
First-time login instructions
The first time you are using the DFØ app, log on via ID-porten. ID-porten is a common login solution to online public services in Norway. You can use MinID, BankID or BankID for mobile phones to log on.
Every third month you will have to log on via ID-porten again.
ID-porten works best with Chrome or Safari as the browser on your mobile phone.
Access to photos
The DFØ app asks for access to your photos in order for you to be able to take photos of your receipts and upload in the app.
PIN Code and fingerprint
After you have logged in via ID-porten, you will choose a four-digit PIN code.
The next time you are using the app, use the PIN code to log in. You can also use fingerprint to log on, if your mobile phone supports this.
How to activate login with fingerprint
- Click on "Settings" in the DFØ app.
- Click on "Activate fingerprint authentication".
- Click on "Continue".
- Log in via ID-porten.
- Log in with fingerprint to confirm you want to use fingerprint authentication for the DFØ app.
Changing language for the DFØ app
- Click on Settings ("Innstillinger") in the main menu of the DFØ app after logging in.
- Click on Language in the app ("Språk i appen").
- Select English language ("Engelsk språk").
- Click on To PIN code ("Til PIN-kode") and log in again.
Tasks not available in the app
There are some things that employees can do in the self-service portal which cannot be done in the app:
- Finding your annual statement
- Request leave of absence
- Transfer or request payment for travel- and overtime balance
- Resign
- Register external work
- Add a substitute
- Process tasks as a passive substitute
Employees cannot register sick leave in either the DFØ app or self-service portal. This type of leave must go directly through your manager.

Fee recipients can do the same things in the DFØ app as in Betalmeg.
Register working hours
Punching in and out
Punching in and out
It is easy to punch in and out when you go to and from work.
- Click on Punch in in the main menu of the app to punch in.
- Click on Punch out in the main menu of the app to punch out.
- Click on the timestamp behind Punch in/out before you punch in/out.
- Select the correct time.
- Click on OK.
Do you want to edit the time you punched in or out?
- Click on the timestamp behind Punch in/out before you punch in/out.
- Select the correct time.
- Click on OK.
Register, edit and delete working hours
Register working hours without using punch in/out
- Click on Register working hours to open the calendar.
- Click on + in the calendar to register todays working hours or select another date and then click on +.
- To select an attendance type other than Present, click on attendance/ absence and find the correct type.
- Click on the timestamp to change it.
- Click on save.
Edit registered working hours
- Click on Register working hours to open the calendar.
- Click on the date in the calendar you want to edit.
- Click on the existing working hours.
- Click on edit.
- Edit attendance / absence type, date and or time.
- Click on save.
Deleting registered working hours
- Click on register working hours.
- Click on the date in the calendar you want to delete an entry from.
- Click on the entry you want to delete.
- Click on the rubbish bin.
- Click on delete.
Register project hours
This is only available for employees in agencies that use this service.
Project hours are specified by number of hours.
You can register and edit project hours for the current and previous month.
Project hours do not depend on having registered working hours.
Employees who do not register workign hours (negative time) can register project hours in the DFØ app and in the selv-service portal.
With project and activity in the app
- Click on Register working hours.
- Click on the date you want to register on.
- Click on the tab Project hours.
- Click on +. Selected attendance type is project hours.
- Click on project/ activity. Select project/activity from the list or search for a project and select activity.
- Click on Number of hours and add the number of hours.
- Click on Save.
With work orders and activity in the app
- Click on Register working hours.
- Click on the date you want to register on.
- Click on the tab Project hours.
- Click on +. Selected attendance type is project hours.
- Click on work order/activity. Select work order/activity from the list or search for a project and select activity.
- Click on Number of hours and add the number of hours.
- Click on Save.

If you did not punch in
- Click on the timestamp behind Punch in in the main menu of the app.
- Click on Project/activity
- Select project/activity from the list or search for a project and select activity.
- Click on OK.
If you have punched in
- Click on “Project not selected activity not selected” in the main menu.

If you want to register on a different project/ activity from a new timestamp
- Click on + in the main menu.
- Click on project/activity.
- Select project/activity from the list or search for a project and select activity.
- Click on “from” and edit the timestamp.
- Click on OK.
If you want to register project and activity later

Register work order and activity
If you did not punch in
- Click on the timestamp behind Punch in in the main menu of the app.
- Click on Work order/activity
- Select Work order/activity from the list or search for a work order and select activity.
- Click on OK.
If you have punched in
- Click on “Work order not selected activity not selected” in the main menu.
- Click on Work order/activity.
- Select Work order/activity from the list or search for a Work order and select activity.
- Click on OK.
If you want to register on a different Work order/ activity from a new timestamp
- Click on + in the main menu.
- Click on Work order/activity.
- Select Work order/activity from the list or search for a project and select activity.
- Click on “from” and edit the timestamp.
- Click on OK.
If you want to register work order and activity afterwards
- Click on register working hours
- Click on the date you want to register on and then click on +.
- Click on work order/activity. Select work order/activity from the list or search for a project and select activity.
Register working hours with QR-code
Light green means that you worked less than your planned working time.
Red means that you are missing registration during core hours. This only affects employees that have core hours. Employees that work part time or have a partial leave or sick leave are exempted.
Holidays and absence
Absence due to illness
- Self-certification: You register self- certification under request for absence.
- Doctor, dentist and sick part of day: You register doctor/ dentist or sick part of day under register working hours.
- Sick leave: You send the medical certificate to you manager; you cannot register these yourself.
Register holidays and absence
New request for absence or self-certification
- Click on + in request for absence.
- Click on type of absence and select one of them.
- Click on from date and select date.
- Click on to date and select date.
- Click on the timestamp and select to and from time if this applies to your request.
- Add a comment (optional).
- Click on Send.
Edit request for absence
- Click on the request you want to edit.
- Click on edit.
- Edit the absence type, date and/ or time. You can also add a new comment.
- Click on Send.
Delete request for absence
- Click on the request you want to delete.
- Click on the rubbish bin.
- Click yes when you in the confirmation window.
See your compensatory time balance and vacation days
Compensatory time balance, overtime, and travel time
You will find these under time balance. These time balances are updated every night and are shown in hours and minutes. You can find details for compensatory time, overtime, and travel time by clicking the icon in the top right corner.
The difference between compensatory time balance and compensatory time off
Compensatory time balance shows the compensatory time you have accumulated.
You can take time off using your compensatory time balance (full and half days), totalling 24 full days per year. Compensatory time off shows how many days you have left.
Time sheets
Time sheets show an overview of the time you have registered per month.
- Click on time balance from the main menu.
- Click on the icon in the top right corner.
- Click on the month you want to view. The time sheet will be displayed.
- Use your fingers to zoom and change the view on your screen.
- You can download your time sheet by clicking the download icon (arrow down).
Remaining vacation days
You can see your remaining vacation days under time balance. Click on vacation for more information.
Checking your time balance
- Click on time balance from the main menu.
- Click on compensatory time off, paid compassionate leave, etc, to see deductions from the quota.
- Click on the relevant month to see the specific dates.
Travel expense claims and reimbursements
Create a travel expense claim
Register a travel expense claim
- Click travel expense claim from the main menu, followed by +.
- Enter the date and time when your trip started and ended.
- Enter the purpose of your trip (obligatory). Select country if your trip was abroad. Enter location.
- Change the type of trip if necessary.
- Add new destination if relevant.
- Enter a comment if necessary.
- Click reimbursements on the top blue menu bar. Your travel expense claim will be saved as a draft.
- Change cost allocation if relevant.
- If you are entitled to receive subsistence allowance, click on subsistence allowance, and tick the box. Tick the boxes for any meals that have been provided to you and change the times if necessary. Click ok.
- Register night supplement if relevant.
- Register kilometre allowance if relevant.
- Compensation supplement is calculated automatically based on the number of hours spent abroad. If you have registered destinations both within Norway and abroad, and your stay in Norway is longer than 12 hours, you must consider the following for the calculation to be correct: “I have not performed work in Norway before/after my trip abroad”.
- Add any expense posts, including attachments if necessary.
- If you have used a credit card which has been linked to your DFØ account, you can upload transactions from your credit card by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- If you need to add attachments, click attachments on the top blue menu bar.
- Click the save icon (floppy disk). Your travel expense claim is now saved as a draft and you can continue registrations later.
- To submit your travel expense claim for approval, click Send.
Edit, delete or copy a travel expense claim
Edit a travel expense claim
- Click on the relevant travel expense claim. If you have already submitted your claim for approval, click edit in order to make changes.
- Register your changes.
- Click on the save icon (floppy disk) to save your claim as a draft or click Send to submit your claim for approval.
Delete a travel expense claim
You can only delete a travel expense claim which has not been paid.
- Click on the relevant travel expense claim.
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click delete.
- Click ok. Your travel expense claim is now deleted.
Copy a travel expense claim
- Click on the travel expense claim you want to copy.
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click copy.
- Select a new start date and make the necessary changes.
- Click on the save icon (floppy disk) to save your claim as a draft or click Send to submit your claim for approval.
Register expense reimbursement (expense on behalf of employer)
You register an expense reimbursement when you have paid for an expense for your employer, such as office supplies or stamps. Other expenses may include passport fees, visa, etc.
Expenses that are your own, which should be registered as taxable income covered by your employer, such as newspaper subscriptions, gym fees and internet, must be registered as a remuneration.
Register an expense reimbursement
- Click expense reimbursement from the main menu.
- Click + in the top right corner.
- Change cost allocation if necessary.
- Add one or more expense posts.
- If you have used a credit card which has been linked to your DFØ account, you can upload transactions from your credit card by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click attachments from the top blue menu bar and add any attachments.
- Click on the floppy disk icon to save your expense reimbursement as a draft. You can continue registrations later.
- Click Send to submit for approval.
Delete an expense reimbursement
Expense reimbursements which have been paid cannot be deleted.
- Click expense reimbursement from the main menu.
- Click the expense reimbursement you want to delete.
- Click the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click delete.
- Click ok. The expense reimbursement is now deleted.
Copy an expense reimbursement
- Click the expense reimbursement you want to copy.
- Click the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click copy.
- Select a new date and make other necessary changes.
- Click on the floppy disk icon to save your expense reimbursement as a draft. You can continue registration later.
Add expense posts
- Click add new expense post.
- Click on expense type and select expense type.
- Complete all necessary fields and click ok.
- Repeat to add more expense posts.
Delete an expense post
- Click on the expense post you want to delete.
- Click on the rubbish bin icon.
- Click delete.
Register remuneration (own expenses paid by employer)
Register remuneration when you have had expenses which your employer is covering, and which are to be reported as salary. For example: newspaper subscription, exercise fee, mobile phone or internet.
- Click remuneration in the main menu.
- Click + to create a new form.
- Enter purpose (required).
- Change cost allocation if applicable.
- Click + Add new remuneration.
- Click description. Enter description of the remuneration and click OK.
- Click date and select date in the calendar.
- Click wage type. Search for wage type (with name or number) and/or select wage type in the list.
- Enter amount or number or number and rate.
- Click OK.
- Repeat step 5 to add more remunerations to the form if applicable.
- Enter any comment you might have.
- Click attachment(s) in the menu and add attachment if applicable.
- Click the icon to save (floppy disk). The form is saved as a draft. You can continue to register the form later.
- Click Send. Click Submit to send the form.
Add attachment
Adding an attachment by taking a photo with your phone
- Click attachments on the top blue menu bar of your travel expense claim or expense reimbursement. You can also add an attachment to a specific expense post.
- Click new attachment.
- Click take photo to take a photo with your phone.
- Click ok if asked whether to allow DFØ access to your camera. You can go to settings on your phone to change this access later.
- Take a photo.
- Enter a file name and click OK.
Adding an attachment by downloading a file on your phone
- Click attachments on the top blue menu bar of your travel expense claim or expense reimbursement. You can also add an attachment to a specific expense post.
- Click new attachment.
- Click select existing.
- Select the file you want to attach. If you have an iPhone you may only select photos, but Android phones will allow you to select any file.
- Click ok if asked whether to allow DFØ access to your photos. You can go to settings on your phone to change this access later.
- Select a file.
- Enter a file name and click OK.
- Click ok. The attachment is saved. (If you are not connected to Wi-Fi you will be asked if you want to upload attachment over mobile network.)
Tips
- Take one photo per receipt.
- You may open a PDF file on your phone and take a screenshot.
Delete an attachment
You cannot delete the attachment only but will need to delete the entire expense post.
- Click on the attachment.
- Click on the rubbish bin icon.
- Click ok.

- Click ok.
View an attachment
- Click on the attachment. The attachment will be shown if it is a photo.
- If the attachment does not appear, click the download icon (arrow pointing downwards).
- If the phone does not automatically select an app, select which app you want to download
the attachment to. Alternatively, you will have to download an app for this (for example Adobe Acrobat on iPhone). The attachment is displayed. - Press “Back to DFØ”.
Add credit card receipt
- Click add new expense post.
- Click the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click available credit card receipts.
- Select a transaction.
- Change the expense type if necessary.
- Complete any additional fields.
- Change amount if applicable.
- Click ok, followed by ok again.
- Repeat if you want to add more credit card receipts.
View payments
See how much you have been paid and when
- Click payment from the main menu.
- Click travel and expenses on the top blue menu bar.
- You will see which payments have been made to you, and when.
- Click on the payment you want to view. You will see the latest version of your payslip.
See how much you will be paid
- Click on the travel expense claim, expense reimbursement or travel request you want to view.
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click show payslip.
- You will see a preview of your payslip.
Register multiple destinations, allowances, cost allocation, and expenses
Add new destination
- Click itinerary on the top blue menu bar.
- Click add destination.
- Add the purpose, travel start and end times, country, location and type of trip.
- To add more destinations, repeat steps 2 and 3.
Register subsistence allowance
- Click reimbursements on the top blue menu bar.
- Click subsistence allowance.
- Tick the box for subsistence allowance.
- Tick the boxes for any meals that were provided to you and change the time if necessary.
- Click ok.
Change cost allocation
- Click reimbursements on the top blue menu bar.
- Click cost allocation.
- Click on the top field where it says 100 % and enter the changes. You will change the cost allocation for the entire claim. If the cost allocation is split, change the percentage.
You may also change the cost allocation for an individual expense post.
Register night supplement
- Click reimbursements on the top blue menu bar.
- Click night supplement.
- Tick the boxes for the nights you are entitled to receive a night supplement.
- Click ok.
Register kilometre allowance
- Click reimbursements on the top blue menu bar.
- Click kilometre allowance.
- Click add new mileage.
- Complete all required fields.
- Click ok. If relevant, click add new distance again and repeat.
Tromsø has a different rate for kilometre allowance. For this rate to apply, select Country = Norway, Tromsø.
Register expense posts
- Click reimbursements on the top blue menu bar.
- Click add new expense post.
- Click expense type and select the relevant expense type.
- Complete all required fields and click ok. You will receive an error message if you have not completed all obligatory fields.
- Add attachments if necessary.
- Repeat in order to add more expense posts.
Delete an expense post
- Click on the expense post you want to delete.
- Click on the rubbish bin icon.
- Click delete.
Send a travel request and request an advance
Register a travel request
- Click travel requests and advances from the main menu.
- Click + in the top right corner.
- Enter the travel start and end date and time.
- Enter the purpose of your trip (obligatory). Select country if your trip is abroad. Enter location (obligatory).
- If relevant, add destinations.
- Add a comment if necessary.
- Click estimated costs from the top blue menu bar. The request is now saved as a draft.
- Enter estimated costs (obligatory).
- If relevant, tick a box under approval for means of transport.
- If relevant, enter an amount for advance payment. Change the currency if necessary.
- Upload any relevant attachments.
- Click the floppy disk icon to save the request as a draft or click Send to submit your request for approval.
Edit a travel request
- Click travel requests and advances from the main menu.
- Click the travel request you want to edit and click Edit.
- Register your changes.
- Click the floppy disk icon to save the request as a draft or click Send to submit your request for approval.
Delete a travel request
You can only delete a travel request which has not been paid out.
- Click travel requests and advances from the main menu.
- Click the travel request you want to delete.
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
- Click delete.
- Click ok. The travel request is now deleted.
Copy a travel request
- Click the travel request you want to copy.
- Click cancel if the travel request has been converted to a travel expense claim.
- Click the three vertical dots in top right corner.
- Click copy.
- Enter a new start date. Make other relevant changes.
- Click the floppy disk icon to save the request as a draft or click Send to submit your request for approval.
Convert a travel request or request for advance to a travel expense claim
- Click travel requests and advances from the main menu.
- Click the travel request or advance you want to convert.
- Click the three vertical dots in top right corner.
- Click convert to travel expense claim.
- Make necessary changes.
- Click the floppy disk icon to save the claim as a draft or click Send to submit your request for approval.
Edit or delete a travel advance
Travel advances that have been saved cannot be changed or deleted. You can enter an advance with a negative amount.
Register a travel expense claim based on a travel request or advance
- Click travel expense claim from the main menu.
- Click + in the top right corner.
- Click convert approved travel request. You will only see this option if you have a travel request or advance which has been approved, and the travel start date has passed.
- You will see a list of approved travel requests and advances. Select the one you want to convert to a travel expense claim.
- Complete your travel expense claim. Some fields will already be completed. Make changes where necessary. You will see any deductions for paid advances at the bottom under reimbursements.
- Click the floppy disk icon to save the claim as a draft or click Send to submit your request for approval.
Your settings and information
Inbox
New tasks
- A red circle on the icon for inbox indicates that you have tasks in your inbox.
- Click Inbox
- Select the task (travel expense claim/expense reimbursement/travel request) and read the comment from your approver on why the task has been returned to you.
- Click OK on the task information.
- Make the necessary corrections.
- You can click the save icon (floppy disk) to save as a draft.
- Click Send to send in again.
Contact information
You can register, edit, and delete your contact information under User profile.
Register an address, email address or phone number
- Click User profile and Address, Email or Phone number.
- Click + Add new address, email, or phone number.
- Select type.
- Enter your address, e-mail address or phone number.
- Click Save.
Edit an address, email address or phone number
- Click User profile and Address, Email or Phone number.
- Select the address, email address or phone number you want to edit.
- Click Edit.
- Enter your address, email address or phone number.
- Click Save.
Delete an address, email address or phone number
Your permanent residence cannot be deleted.
- Click User profile and address, email, or phone number.
- Select the address, email address or phone number you want to delete.
- Click the rubbish bin.
- Click ok on the message.
Additional tax payment
Register additional tax payment
- Click Additional tax payment.
- Click the + symbol to the top right or click the month from which you want the payment to start.
- Select start and end month for additional tax payment.
- State the amount you want deducted per month. Even if this is a deduction, it is not to be registered with a negative sign.
- Click ok to the top right.
- Confirm by clicking “Send”.
Edit additional tax payment
- Click Additional tax payment.
- Select the month where you want to edit the deduction.
- Edit to the desired amount.
- Click ok to the top right.
- Confirm by clicking “Send”.
Stop/delete additional tax payment
You can delete an additional tax payment if salary calculation has not been made for the month(s) you want to delete the deduction from.
- Click Additional tax payment.
- Click the month you want to stop additional tax payment.
- Click the rubbish bin to the top right.
- Confirm by clicking “Send”.
or
- Click Additional tax payment.
- Click the rubbish bin to the top right.
- Select start month and end month for when you do not want additional tax payment.
- Click ok to the top right.
- Confirm by clicking “Send”.
You can also register additional tax payment for next year. If you do this, the earliest start month is January of next year.
Family members and emergency contact person
You can register, edit, and delete family members and contact person under User profile.
Register family member or contact person
- Click User profile and Family/contact person.
- Click + Add family/contact person.
- Select family/contact person type.
- Fill in the fields. First name and last name are required. For children birth date is also required.
- If the family member is your emergency contact, tick the box for this.
- Press Save.
Please note that you must register children to be able to register absence with sick child.
Edit registered family member or contact person
- Click User profile and Family/contact person.
- Select the family member/the contact person you want to edit.
- Click Edit.
- Fill in the fields. Select valid from date.
- Click Save.
Delete registered family member or contact person
- Click User profile and Family/contact person.
- Select the family member/the contact person you want to delete.
- Click the rubbish bin.
- Click ok on the message.
Credit card
Register a credit card
You can only register credit card if your employer has a corporate agreement. When you have registered credit card, you can retrieve the transactions from the credit card and add them to your travel expense claim/expense reimbursement.
- Click User profile and Bank.
- Click + Add new bank account/card number.
- Select Credit card number(s).
- Click Type and select type of credit card.
- Click Card number and enter the number without spaces. Press ok.
- Click Save.
Edit a credit card
- Click Bank.
- Select the credit card you want to edit.
- Click Edit.
- Click Card number and enter the number without spaces. Click ok.
- Click Save.
Delete a credit card
- Click Bank.
- Click the registered credit card you want to delete.
- Click the rubbish bin.
- Click ok on the message.
Larger text size
To get larger text size, go to Settings -> Font size. Select Large size.
Change to another agency
Change agency when you are logged in
- Log out (at the bottom of the main menu in the app)
- Select agency from the list
- Enter pin code
The first time you are logging in with a new agency in the app
If you have a user account in a new agency, you will have to log in with ID-porten again to make the new agency visible in the app.
- Log out (at the bottom of the main menu in the app)
- Choose Have you forgotten your pin code?
- Click on Log in via ID-porten
- Log in via ID-porten. You will see a list of agencies, but you cannot select any of them. You will be signed in to one of the agencies.
- Log out
- Select an agency from the list
- Enter pin code
Payslip
- Go to Payments in the main menu in the app. Payslips are available two days before payment date.
- Click on the payslip you want to view.
- Click on the download icon (arrow pointing downwards) if you want to save the payslip to your phone.

Error in the app?
Take a screen shot and describe what you did before the error occurred. Report the error within your agency or contact us directly by telephone 406 34 021 or by email lonn@dfo.no.
You can email the customer service centre directly from the DFØ app. Select Help – Report a problem or send feedback. This way we will also receive system data which may help us solve the problem.
- Do you not have the latest version of the app? You can update the app in Appstore (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Updating the app to the latest version can solve various issues in the app.
- Is the app slow? Try to turn off wifi and use mobile internet (3G/4G) instead.
- If you are having problems with the time picker, go to Settings → Time picker and select time wheel.
- Error 03 or 06? On iPhone: Go to Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data. On Android: Go to Settings → Apps → DFØ → Storage → Clear data. Proceed to trying to log in again.
